Pancake Day

This year my 4th and 5th grade class celebrated Pancake Day. It was a fun lesson learning about transition words and reading The Runaway Pancake. Then we applied the transition words and the kids wrote about making pancakes as we made pancakes....in class. It was very fun and that was the FIRST time I made pancakes. My kids had an excellent time helping mix ingredients and writing. Then of course, we ate the delectable breakfast treat. One of my new fourth graders was so excited. He said, "Miss Burns, these pancakes are SOOOOOO GOOD! You shouldn't be a teacher, you should be a chef!" Hmmmm...I've always wanted to be a teacher since I could remember (except for a brief dolphin training phase after going to Sea World). On the other hand, I'm not a great cook and was excited my kids enjoyed my cooking! :) I'll take my child's comment as a compliment!
